From 2–4 July 2025, Digestive Cancers Europe (DiCE) hosted its General Assembly and 10th Annual Masterclass in Barcelona, Spain, marking a decade of collective learning, collaboration, and patient advocacy across Europe.
This event brought together patient advocates, clinicians, researchers, and member organisations from across Europe to strengthen knowledge, share best practices, and build meaningful partnerships in the fight against digestive cancers. The programme combined expert scientific sessions with practical, hands-on workshops, covering topics such as advances in gastrointestinal cancer care, shared decision-making in clinical practice, mental health awareness, and the use of innovative communication tools.
For the SAGITTARIUS project, the Masterclass offered a valuable opportunity to connect with key patient advocacy networks, discuss shared priorities in colon cancer care, and reinforce the importance of patient-centered research. SAGITTARIUS was featured alongside other EU-level initiatives, helping to amplify our trial’s visibility within a broader advocacy and policy community committed to improving outcomes for people affected by digestive cancers.
As we reflect on this event, the strong sense of solidarity and shared purpose among participants highlights the importance of collaboration between research projects, advocacy organisations, clinicians, and patients. Together, we continue to work towards earlier detection, better treatments, and improved quality of life for all digestive cancer patients.
